Its Official, Team MT is Headed to Nationals!
We had our meeting the other day, and its official. The Bruigher Beard Club will be at nationals in Bend, OR to show off how awesome the Beards of Big Sky Country are. We currently have only a handful of members going, but more are welcome to join the party. We are leaving on Thursday, June 3rd and will return on Monday, June 7th. With our van load of facial hair, there will also be a few instruments, and definitely some of delicious Montana Micros! Bend, ready or not, here we come!
We Are Going To Nationals
Esteemed Beards and Mustaches,
The first ever US National Beard and Moustache Championships is just around the corner. It will take place on Saturday, June 5th in Bend, Oregon with $5000 in prizes! There will be four categories for the competition, each with a purse of $1000 and a randomly selected competitor will also receive a $1000 prize, courtesy of Visit Bend!
The Four categories to be represented are:
- Best moustache. Beards are allowed in this category but the contestants will be judged on their moustaches only
- Best partial beard. Includes goatees, van dykes, sideburns, musketeers, etc.
- Best full beard. Styling aids are permitted
- Freestyle. Anything goes. Anything. Be creative.
Team Montana AKA the Bruigher Beard and Moustache Club plans on attending and showing everyone how it is done out here in the 406. Our two current competitors (it is open to EVERYONE!) are Andy Stobey in the Freestyle and Tyrrell Hibbard in the Best Moustache category! Current plans are to leave the afternoon of Thursday, June 3, camp somewhere in Idaho or Washington (if anyone has a favorite site that direction let us know) so we can arrive in Bend in the early afternoon of Friday. There are some sanctioned activities on Friday such as a Brewery and Pub tour, Mountain Biking, Canoeing, Whitewater Rafting, and Cave Exploring! Don't worry, they all including copious amounts of local microbrews during and after the event.
Registration to compete is $40 and admission for non-competitors is $10, with the Friday activities costing an additional fee.
You can find out more about the Competition on the Beard Team USA website.

There will be a Beard Club meeting on May 11th at 6:30 at Blackfoot River Brewery. We will be discussing plans to attend the National Competition on Bend. Feel free to RSVP using the comment system.
